For large portions of late 20s to late 30s uncommon 3* crystal is considered a bottleneck. 1*, if I recall correctly, only refines to common quality. 2* adds uncommon (green). 3* adds rare (blue). 4* adds epic (purple). So when I refine a batch of 3* raw ore I will get some combination of common, uncommon and maybe rare 3* ore.These two ships have only one purpose, to mine latinum and mine it fast.
