Thus, gender disparity remains a systemic problem: 37 of 44 total (reported) subfields still fail to reach parity.Indeed, diffusion scholarship has rapidly advanced in all three subfields of empirical political science (Graham, Shipan, and Volden Reference Graham, Shipan and Volden 2013). This growth makes the analysis of diffusion scholarship timely, but it also makes this topic especially ripe for analyzing cross-subfield scholarship.
