We stayed there for New Year's Week last year. It was pretty nice. Great location on Kaanapali beach.It was VERY crowded when we went and hard to find a lawn chair by the pool, but it was PEAK time to be there over the holiday.

You walk straight out,from the resort right to the beach.
The Hyatt is at the end of the beach walk, and is a hike to get to other places ( Whalers, all other hotels, Black Rock, etc). The Westin is in the middle of everything, great location. Westin has just finished a huge renovation and should feel “newer”. Westin beach is a lot better.
